Canon unveils the EOS 700D digital SLR
Canon's new EOS 700D is said to be the firm's most advanced consumer digital SLR, sporting a 18-megapixel sensor
The new Canon EOS 700D uses a Canon-designed and manufactured 18-megapixel APS-C Hybrid CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 5 image processor. It has a burst rate of 5fps and an ISO range of 100 to 12,800, expandable to ISO 25,600.
The new consumer model has an autofocus system with nine cross-type points, to "deliver greater focusing speed and accuracy to ensure photographers can always keep desired subjects in focus, even as they move around," claims Canon.
The camera has a 360-degree rotating mode dial, a three-inch vari-angle Clear View LCD II touchscreen, and can shoot movies in Full HD.
The Canon EOS 700D will be released in late April, retailing at £630 (body only).
Canon has also released the EOS 100D, an entry-level camera it claims is the smallest and lightest it has ever made. It sports a 18-megapixel sensor that "uses phase detection pixels spread across 80 percent of the sensor's imaging surface to provide increased AF speed and tracking performance when the camera is in live view or when capturing Full-HD movies."
The EOS 100D will retail from £580.
